Last updated: May 3, 2026

how to delete your account.

  1. Sign in at app.boredapp.io on the web, or open BoredApp on your phone.
  2. Tap your profile (bottom-right).
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm. Your account is deleted immediately.

what gets deleted.

  • Your profile (name, email, profile photo)
  • Events you hosted, including all polls, checklists, chat messages, and arrival data tied to those events
  • Your friend connections and any friend-invite codes you created
  • Notification state and read receipts
  • Your Firebase authentication record

what is retained in conversations.

Messages, polls, and content you contributed in events hosted by other people, in direct messages, and in group chats remain part of those conversations — they belong to the participants who own them.

The display name you used when posting is preserved alongside each message, so other participants can still understand the conversation history. If you want a specific message removed, contact the event host or the other participants directly.

what is retained for operational reasons.

  • Anonymized aggregate analytics — cannot be tied back to you.
  • Crash logs — retained for 90 days via Firebase Crashlytics, then automatically deleted.
  • Internal moderation records — any reports you filed are kept as part of our safety audit trail.

No location data is retained at any point. BoredApp does not store user coordinates — locations are sent only to Google's APIs to compute arrival times, then discarded.

BoredApp does not currently process payments, so no billing data is retained.

delete specific data without deleting your account.

You don't need to close your account to remove specific items. While signed in to BoredApp:

Delete individual messages

  • Event chat or group chat: Long-press a message you sent → Delete.
  • Direct messages: Long-press your message → Delete.

Delete polls and checklists you created

Open the event → tap the poll or checklist → Delete.

Delete an entire event you hosted

Open the event from your home screen → menu → Delete event. This removes the event and all its polls, checklists, messages, and arrival data.

Leave an event you've joined

Open the event → menu → Leave. Your name is removed from participants. Messages you posted in the event remain visible to other participants (see “what is retained in conversations” above).

Remove a friend

Friends list → tap the friend → Remove friend. Pending requests between you are cleared.

Block a user

Open their profile from any event or chat → Block. Blocking hides their content from you and prevents future contact.
